ELA students have been reading Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, a great adventure story of a boy who survives a plane crash and is stranded in the Canadian Wilderness to fend for himself.  In addition to reading the novel, students have been working on writing skills using the RYBG strategy in order to better respond to literature. Besides reading and writing, we have been working on grammar and Latin stems/vocabulary development.

ELA+ students just finished reading the novella Call of the Wild by Jack London.  In doing, we have also been working on writing using the RYBG strategy which has really helped students respond to literature better.  In addition to reading and writing, we have been working on Latin stems and Classic Vocabulary with Jack London.  There will be a final for the Call of the Wild this Friday and a final project on mood using the novella will be due in two weeks.  We are also going to squeeze in a the poem "The Raven" by Poe by writing our own remix for our very first POEtry Slam!
